About the Exam
The AFOQT is a paperbased test that contains 470 multiplechoice questions which are divided between 12 subtests covering instrument comprehension, verbal analogies, arithmetic reasoning, physical science and table reading, among other subjects. 220 of the questions are part of the nonscored selfdescription inventory section, which is similar to a personality assessment. The exam takes approximately 3.5 hours and may only be taken twice with at least 180 days between each test. The most recent test score will be the one used.
Preparing & Registering for the AFOQT
With help from this study guide, you can review the general and careerspecific knowledge required for the AFOQT. Each video lesson thoroughly explains each subtest category and provides examples and selfassessment opportunities to gauge comprehension. Much like the ACT and SAT exams, this test gauges aptitude in verbal and mathematic comprehension with assessments in analogies, graphs and mathematical equations. In addition to those components, this test also evaluates for aviation and aerodynamic understanding. By the end of this course, you will be familiar with the formatting and subject matter of the AFOQT.
Scoring the AFOQT
Test scores are based on five composite test areas including pilot, navigatortechnical, academic aptitude, verbal and quantitative. Exam results will be available online after seven days. Scores are percentagebased with only correctly answered questions being scored and no penalties for incorrect answers. Examinees must score a minimum of 10 in quantitative and 15 in verbal. Minimum scores in the other three areas are determined by the career/officer position applicants are seeking.
