About the Exam
The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) Algebra I test is used to help school districts gauge their students' comprehension of specific algebra subjects. The test is broken into five reporting categories that cover number and algebraic methods, and mathematical operations associated with quadratic, linear and exponential functions and equations. It consists of 49 multiplechoice questions and five griddable questions for a total of 54 questions. The test is typically taken in May, July and December. The standard time limit for most STAAR tests is four hours.
